Abstract

The midwife plays a critical role in health counselling and education, not just for women but also for their families and communities. At the current time, with the growth of the midwifery workforce globally, there is still a lack of understanding regarding the full scope and role of the midwife. This possible lack of knowledge may have hindered the adoption of midwifery care models by restricting certain women’s ability to make informed choices about their care options.
