Carbon monoxide gas is one of the most dangerous gas pollutants, because it has a very harmful effect even when it is spreading in very small quantities. Consequentially, the CO-oxidation reaction is a crucial step to minimize the emission to air and therefore reduce the environmental pollutions. The catalytic system of CO oxidation over suitable materials considered one of efficient solutions. In the present work, we introduce our contribution in this global problem through the preparation of solid nano catalysts for carbon monoxide oxidation. We prepared two series of catalysts, the first series composed of Pd nanoparticles supported on single and bimetallic Co/Mn-MOF, while the second series composed of Au nanoparticles supported on Mn3O4. the Nobel metals (Au or Pd) were successfully deposited over the support and reduced by hydrazine hydrate using microwave irradiation (MWI) method. All the prepared catalysts were characterized by different surface and structural techniques such as, X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption-desorption, temperature programmed reduction (H2-TPR), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). All the prepared catalysts were tested in CO oxidation reaction. The results showed that the prepared catalysts exhibited high performance toward CO oxidation reaction. Additionally, the incorporation of Nobel metals (Au or Pd) has a great impact on enhancing the performance of the catalysts toward CO oxidation, where, some of the catalysts exhibited 100% CO oxidation at room temperatures. The relation between catalytic activities of the catalysts and their surface properties were also discussed in detail. Moreover, the catalysts showed excellent stability and durability for long time on stream without notable loss of their catalytic activity. Therefore, our catalyst is a promising catalyst for the removal of the toxic CO gas from air, with a long lifetime, and it considered suitable to be used on industrial scale.
