Application of Green Chemistry Methodologies in the Synthesis of Novel Heterocycles Useful as Drug Precursors
In this thesis development of new and efficient synthetic strategies for biologically active novel heterocyclic derivatives were achieved using conventional as well as microwaves irradiation methods. The latter is considered as one of the green ways of organic synthesis. New series of bioactive heterocycles having various types of ring systems were synthesized via the reaction of polyfunctional sulfone compounds with various types of aminoazoles, hydrazonoyl halides or α-haloketones, α-haloesters, and α-halonitrile using microwave irradiation. Infrared, Mass, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–visible and elemental analysis were used to confirm the structure of all the new derivatives. The mechanisms of all reactions were discussed. In addition, antimicrobial activity of selected derivatives have been screened and the obtained results revealed the high potency of some of them compared with the used standard references used in the biological screening.
