Is format of : مكتبة الملك عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الجامعية

This thesis concerns with a spectrophotometric investigation of the kinetics and mechanisms of oxidation of four selected significant organic acids; two of them are biologically reactive heterocyclic compounds, namely, barbituric and thiobarbituric acids, and two fatty acids, palmitic acid as a saturated acid, and linoleic acid as an unsaturated one by chromium trioxide in both aqueous and organic sulfuric and perchloric acidic media. In addition, study the influence of some metal ion catalysts on the kinetics of oxidation of both barbituric and thiobarbituric acids. Also, it presents a kinetic and mechanistic approach to the oxidation of thiobarbituric acid by hexacyanoferrate(III) in different acidic media, sulfuric and perchloric acids, as well as in alkaline media. Estimation of various activation and thermodynamic parameter for the oxidation processes are also undertaken.
